We don't have any figures for Arizona insurance claims for dog bites, but I would be surprised if they weren't consistent with these national figures. Although, much of the much of the cost for this problem is carried by the insurance industry, uninsured dog owners and caretakers pass these costs to the victims of dog bites, who often live with the scars for the rest of their lives.

Peoria elementary students learn how to avoid dog bites
This is a great idea for elementary school curriculum. According to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention , 800,000 people seek medical attention for dog bites, half of them children. This is consistent with the percentage that we see in our injury practice. Approximately 50% of the dog bite cases we see involve chidren. And sadly many times the physical and emotional scars are permanent.
